Strasbourg, 8 October 2024

The Co-Chairmen of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group Nicola Procaccini (Fratelli d’Italia) and Joachim Brudziński (PiS, Poland) have congratulated their fellow French ECR MEP Marion Maréchal on the launch of her new political movement, ‘Identité – Libertés’.

Procaccini said: “I congratulate Marion on the launch of her new movement. We are delighted to see the dynamism that is emerging on the centre-right, in France and across Europe. We in the ECR wish her every success in her project and will play our part. Together, we will break with over-ideologisation and pursue a policy of pragmatism and common sense to protect the interests of our citizens.”

Brudziński said: “I congratulate Marion on her decision to create a new party and wish her and her colleagues all the best in their project to strengthen the national camp. I am delighted that the ECR family will now have an even firmer foothold in France.”

Maréchal’s new party, Identité – Libertés, aims to strengthen the national camp in the upcoming presidential elections and is committed to fighting debt, reducing the tax burden on households and businesses, fighting mass immigration and Islamisation, and opposing the imposition of a single ideology.

Identité – Libertés has four MEPs under the ECR banner: Marion Maréchal, who is also president of the new party, Guillaume Peltier, Nicolas Bay, and Laurence Trochu. It also has three MPs in the French Parliament: Thibaut Monnier, Anne Sicard, and Eddy Casterman.
