EU Commission assesses Europe’s nuclear investment needs by 2050

Delivering on Member States’ nuclear energy plans will require substantial investment—an estimated €241 billion by 2050—for extending the lifetime of existing reactors and building new large-scale facilities. Additional funding will be needed for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs), microreactors, and fusion technologies for the longer-term future, according to the Commission’s eighth Nuclear Illustrative Programme (PINC).

EU energy ministers to discuss REPowerEU roadmap and energy security

At their upcoming meeting, EU energy ministers will conclude work on strengthening the Energy Union and discuss the REPowerEU roadmap.
